When I looked at the list of the top genres I saw Fantasy as the 2nd one. I lovemovies but don't pay any attention to genres. So obviously my first thought was what in the world is Fantasy. I don't know how many of you know what fantasy is but when I first pulled up the top ten fantasy movies of all time I was completely in sync with what they meant. I'm going to say that all of you know exactly what I'm talking about when I say movies like... Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings. I felt pretty stupid but now that I have the type of movies out of the way I can move on with this blog.
Fantasy, when I say this I think out of any reality and fun to think about but very unrealistic. Watching movies like this make me oo and aww because it is so fun to see what people come up with and put on paper. It's like a dream put on the screen. Many people have different thoughts with
these types of movies. I say Star Wars and many people think dorky or not a good movie at all. Some on the other hand who grew up watching it or just love the movie thinks it is a fantastic display of talent. If you want to get away from this reality and just go somewhere people go to fantasy movies or books.
I pulled up the 50 best fantasy Movies of all time and as I said before "Star Wars" was number one and "Lord of the Rings" was two three and five on the list. Other movies that are fairly recent are: "Green Mile, Wizard of Oz, Toy story and Toy story Two, Big Fish, King Kong and Pirates of the Caribbean".
I would not classify the "Green Mile" as a fantasy but more of a drama. It is a fantastic
movie about the relationship between a man condemned to death by a wrongful trial and the guard who is in charge of him. I can kind of see this maybe because it gets you out of reality because you get so wrapped up in the story line you forget about reality for that two hour segment.
"Big Fish" is very much a fantasy movie. I have seen it and
did not like it much at all. I thought it was way to out there to even be able to imagine, andit's story line was all over the place and hard to follow. Many I have talked to have seen it and thought it was wonderful so I guess it is very much an opinion movie. It fits the name fantasy very well.
"Pirates of the Caribbean" is beyond anything that is out there today. It is a story most people have
heard and fell in love with. It has romance, treason, battle scenes and so much action. They have tons of twist in these movies and exceptional actors that do so much to the story line. If you haven't seen this and want to know what fantasy movies should have in them this is the movie to see.

Animated
Now that I've gone over in a brief look at the start of the origin of the movie business, I will now being doing the many different genre that all movies fall into. There are many and I'm taking the top rated genres from filmsite.org an the top 10 are: Animated, Fantasy, Gangster, Science Fiction, Western, Sports, Mystery, Romantic Comedy, Court Room Drama, Epic.
Animated has different variaties that people watch now. They have anime, new Disney movies, Pixar and several others. These are the ones that most people know of. Anime is a new one. I personally do not watch it so I don't have much of an opinion on them or facts. They are basically like comics and some I think are based off of comics. Every one knows what Disney is, it's so big it has theme parks because of their size. Pixar makes movies such as Ratatouille. If you've never seen this movie it is so cute and funny, definately worth the movie rental. The first one I will being doing is animated. Many people know a ton of these types of movies but I'm gonna stick to the ones everyone knows about such as Disney movies. Walt Disney added so much flavor to
the movie industry. As many know he is the one who turned down Tim Burton when Tim had asked Disney to make his script into a movie. Disney said it was to dark and scary for Disney to publish and that it would never pick up. If he could see now where it is and how many people love his films I wonder if he would have changed his answer. The top grossing Disney movie of all time is Finding Nemo made in 2003. Many people have seen and loved this movie. Its about a little fish that has dreams bigger than the ocean but his defective fin puts a spin on his
life's path. Its very cute and a great family movie with an exciting ending. I got this information from ducksoftware.com. They gave the top 10 grossing Disney films for all time.
The oldest one on there is "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". I absolutely loved this movie and since it was made in 1937 all people in t
his class have had atleast one oppurtunity to watch this movie. This movie was also released from the vault at the beginning of the month. I think it was smart the way Disney has their vault idea that way their movies will always be sold at full price. There won't be any lowering of the price. Many amazing movies are sold for five to seven dollars about six months after their release date. With the vault this never happens, they are always at twenty five dollars and get sold amazingly quick. So now that I've stated the top grossing and the oldest grossing Disney films I of course have to state my opinion or else this wouldn't be a blog.
My all time favorite Disney movie is without a doubt "Beauty and the Beast". I have absolutely loved tha
t movie since the first time I watched it. When My twin sister and I were 3 my parents would find us acting out the different scenes that were our favorite. We would also kill the movie by watching it everyday. So now that we have the Disney movies sorted out we can go about life normally again. With as many options and brainstorming ideas getting tossed around there is bound to be a few more hits in the coming years.

The Begining of Movies
This first blog of mine will be about movies, but not one specific movie. This is more of a general idea about how they started and how they have changed since the first movie was shown in the 1920's. As everyone knows the first movies were lacking sound which is now a necessity in every movie now. If there is no sound we think something is wrong, even if it's just for a few second there are some glances. The first movies were also in black and white. This i believe made movies alittle better. Don't get me wrong I love colors but sometimes things get lost in colors where it is almost too bright. Anyway back to the real topic, the first movie which was not for entertainment purposes like they are now. The first movie was one that was made by Eadweard Muybridge. It was not a rolling picture but a series of pictures that starred just a hors
e and a rider. The purpose of this film was to show everyone that when a horse runs it takes all four legs off the ground for one split second. The first motion picture was made in 1890 and was named the "Strongman Sandow". It showed a man flexing muscles. The first movie that was shown as a full length movie was called the "Great Train Robbery". It was first shown in 1903 and ran for 12 minutes. The first feature length movie was "The Story of the Kelly Gang". Their were four main actors in this movie, they were: Godfrey Cass, Nicholas Brierly, Elizabeth Tait and John Tait.
e the original movie stars. From there they slowly evolved into the silent film in the '20's and in the same decade they came out with sound. Color was brought in at the very end of the 1940's. "Gone with the Wind" was the first one withcolor. "Wizard of Oz" was also made in color in the same year as Gone with the Wind. This was a big break in the movie world. The movie industry was just getting started and now it had sound and color. This Picture is of the famous actors that played in "Gone with the Wind".
"Pinocchio" shortly followed by "Bambi" in the '40s. "Cinderrella", "Peter Pan", "Sleeping Beauty" and "Lady and the Tramp" were all shown in the '50s. In the '60s "101 Dalmations", "Mary Poppins" and the "Jungle Book" all came to the big screen.
ie industry just took off from there with movies such as "Grease", "Star Wars" and "Saturday Night Fever" being the big winners in the late '60s and early '70s. So many things come from movies now a days. People get true stories of heroes out and tragedies are often shown in the theaters now. It is a huge kind of entertainment today.
